#52 Ancestors 2019, Week 32, the McDaniel Sisters

The McDaniel Sisters
The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Forde

The short story of the two McDaniel sisters is a continuation of the story of the “Seven Sons” of the McDaniel family.  I have no doubt, the Scots Irish McDaniel sisters, Sarah and Mary M., also had blue eyes like their brothers.  According to Elijah’s descendant Wayne McDonald, they were small people.

Sarah was born about 1827 in Fairfield County, South Carolina. She was enumerated with her parents in the 1830 U.S. Federal Fairfield South Carolina 1830 and the1840 U.S. Federal Census Talbot County, Georgia. By the1850 U.S. Federal Census Chambers, Alabama she is enumerated with her mother Sarah McDaniel and her sister Mary M. McDaniel who was born in 1841 in Talbot County, Georgia; their father William was deceased.  By 1860, both sisters are living with their mother Sarah, now age 68 years old and their widowed older brother John in Pike County, Alabama.  Their older brother Elijah is married and lives down the road. There is a slight possibility Mary M, married a man named Jimmy Neighbors according to a lineage tree on Ancestry.com.  There is no evidence at all that this is the same Mary M. McDaniel, who married Mr. Neighbors.

The very last record of the McDaniel sisters ends with the 1860 U.S. Federal Census.  Rest in Peace, Sarah, and Mary!
